About Rosanne An avid reader since the age of four, she began to study the art of writing six years later and continued her training in creative and expository writing over twenty-five years, including courses with Johns Hopkins University. In college, Rosanne was chosen by the faculty to be one of ten students allowed to tutor their peers on written work. This honor included a year of training in the art of teaching grammar and style, rather than just correcting it. A poet herself, Rosanne understands the blood, sweat and tears that go into writing. She gives each author's work the care it deserves, drawing on her diverse life experiences and knowledge in many fields like period clothing, genetics, all aspects of theater, Celtic legends, rustic camping, the martial arts, architecture and languages (Latin, French, Anglo-Saxon, Middle English, a little Welsh and Japanese). She has worked as a professional freelance editor for nearly ten years, focusing on editing presubmission novels in the young adult, fantasy, sci-fi and inspirational genres. Recent award-winning books include The Ghosts of Lone Jack by Lance Lee Noel (Arizona Book Award, 2010), Whispers from the Bay by John Tkac (Florida Book Award, Gold Medal, 2009) and Runt the Brave by Daniel Schwabauer (Ben Franklin Award, 2005). While working in-house for publishers, she sharpened her young adult novel-editing skills on works by Lewis Carroll, Louisa May Alcott, and Jack London for the Children’s Classics series at Dalmatian Press. (It’s not easy getting famous dead people to answer queries!) She has also written and edited for VeggieTales, Scooby-Doo, Strawberry Shortcake, and the Power Rangers, among others. In the inspirational sector, Rosanne’s work includes THE good book. My Favorite Bible Storybook for Early Readers (435 pages), which has been a top-seller for Dalmatian Press, as well as anthologies (Stories of Friendship, Jesus Touched Them, In Search of Christmas, Memories of Times Past) and children’s books (Conversations from the Ark, Let’s Share, ABC I Love You, The Story of Samson) for Ideals Publications. She also edited a Sunday school curriculum for Cook Ministries’ Bible-In-Life series. |
